The coastal strand

I didn't need sunscreen to visit the beach today. I enjoyed a long walk through the dunes near Half Moon Bay just the same.

Now I'll think of the Motels every time I see a sand dune. Gee, thanks, chuck b.! :-P

By the way, I love the photo of whatever that is spread across the sand, 2 pictures up from the rabbit. Very cool.

That's beach strawberry, Fragaria chiloensis, which I encourage everyone to read about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fragaria_chiloensis

Beach Strawberry!! it's on Michelle's list of forbidden invasives!!! Oh, if one looks a little further one finds it's considered invasive in Hawaii. Only. Thanks for the gorgeous photos. I recently drove home from SF via Monterey and Big Sur, and could not believe the intricate tapestry of flowers on the bluffs and dunes. Of course as one continues south, the landscape is covered with the scourge of pampas grass.
