Back on my way...

Planting wisteria on a trellis made from anything smaller than two-by-fours is...well, this.

I've come to be not a fan of Phormium.

A young buckeye, Aesculus californica. One our first native trees to leaf out, and one of my favorite trees.

Fragrant, white candle flowers follow the apple green foliage, and then the whole thing is leafless and dormant by the end of July.

Some day I will have a bigger garden and it will have kooky topiaries like this one. Seriously--I'm not kidding.

I'll agree with your favorite picture--very lovely.

Why are you no longer a fan of phormium?

I don't think they're very appealing once they get big. Small is good. When it's big it doesn't do anything and just seems pointless. Unless it's in a public landscape or something.
