Edgewood Park

Some pictures from today's outing in Edgewood Park, perhaps?

Now is the time for what I guess is Lupinus albifrons there.

The other thing you'll see a lot of right now is Indian Warrior (Pedicularis densiflora).

Indian Warrior (Pedicularis densiflora)

It seems to grow mainly in the root zone around oaks.

"Kiss me," said the oak.

The path up the park's western side takes you right alongside a dramatic Ceanothus cuneatus. No way to get a picture of the whole thing without stepping off the path. You know I'd never do that. :)

Ceanothus cuneatus, I presume

A very pretty day.

Edgewood County Park

It was a a nice day for a walk. Too early for most wildflowers. We saw some lupine.

I took a walk in Edgewood Park today.

and Calochortus.

Two species of Calochortus, in fact.

And here and there some coyote mint (Monardella villosa)

As you can see, the grasses have dried out for summer.

In the woods that stay green all year, lizards

and yet more Clarkia.

Elsewhere, human life goes on.
