I like this Ranunculus cortisifolius plant a lot. I had it in my garden for awhile but I forgot it was there when it was dormant and now, well, I don't have it in my garden anymore.

Amazing. What are those pale orange flowers with the purple centers in the red succulent pictures? Is it some kind of weird Sisyrinchium? They certainly add punch.

A South African bulb named sparaxis.

Which isn't grown on the east coast. Yeah, the whole time I'm there today, I was thinking "California is nice, but boy it must be amazing in Philadelphia today."

You take great shots of unusual plants. What is the foliage plant in pictures 7 & 8, and are the yellow flowers part of it or just intermingled with it?

Just heavenly looking paths. I also love the xeriscape ideas in the second half of the pics.

Nicole, speaking of xeriscape, you remind me that I need to visit a very nice dry garden in Walnut Creek that I've never seen in spring.

Les, that's the famously freaky Coreopsis gigantea and those are its flowers. Although, this year they're moving it to a different genus, and I can't remember its new name.

Man, when I'm jonesing for some amazing pictures of plants and lush gardens, you always hook me up! Thank you! (That one barrel cactus looks like it's rotting tho'...poor thing.) Hard to believe you'd feel blase' about it all...guess familiarity does breed a little contempt (Or at least less enthusiasm). Have you ever been out east at all? May be time for a trip! :)

I've been east a little bit. And I'm not being blase, Frances and I are having a little inside joke. Sorry 'bout that.

I was wondering if the barrel cactus was rotting, or just doing what it does.
