Alcatraz Gardens

"Every year, over a million people visit Alcatraz. The former maximum security prison there housed convicts like Al Capone and Robert "The Birdman" Stroud, but these days people aren't coming to the island to walk through cold prison cells. They're coming to garden."
The Fri, March 7, 2008 afternoon edition of The California Report Magazine has a RealMedia audio stream, and slide show. (Scroll down.)

I linked to the Garden Conservancy's job ad for the Alcatraz head gardener position back on whoreticulture. You'd think I'd at least be volunteering there. But when would I do that? My work at the Botanical Garden is a higher priority for me.

I planned to blog the Alcatraz gardens when they're ready.

Sounds like it might be time...

I love the garden tours on Alcatraz when they are available. It was a great surprise on one of those one trips too many with relatives.

Yea, I think you have enough to keep you busy! I'm sure Alcatraz is interesting and all that, but personally....nah.
