Everyday sights in Bernal Heights

I had some time to get out and go for a walk today. Felt good! I went up to Bernal Hill and improvised the route home.

I really enjoyed all the exuberant weeds I saw today.

And then there was this counterpoint:

And everything in between.

and coordinating leopard-print throw pillows in the back seat.

Awesome.

Once again you make me love San Francisco. And I love the dinosaur head and "Naked Ladies"...

That was very nice. But there is something very wrong with the picture with the wooden planter boxes with sunflowers, wicker chair and waste basket against the light yellow wall.

I assume the siding on the house is level and the sidewalk is sloped. Please tell me how those sunflowers look to be growing straight from the level of the boxes and are not at angles less than 90 degrees. I can understand the shrub in bondage being forced to grow against true vertical, but not the sunflowers. There's some voodo there.

Yeah, the street is sloped for sure. I got the lowest sideboard horizontal, and I went with that. But the higher boards skew away from parallel. That could be because I was not facing the vignette perpendicularly? I'm not exactly sure what particular forces combine to throw off the sunflowers.

You would be surprised how many hundreds of pictures I've discarded because of skew. It's actually challenging to take level pictures in Bernal Heights. I leave it as an exercise for the readers to answer why.

I love your aesthetic. You rock, Mr. B. Thank you for the pleasure that is your blog.

Nice sights in your neighborhood and a good day to shoot them. I wonder if the mystery photo is the result of some subtle garden whimsy. Suppose the owner deliberately trained the tree and sunflowers to grow at 90 degrees to the street. That would be fun.

I think that you must have a very good eye for spotting amazing things and that San Fran must be a treasure trove. I love your walks, keep on walking.
