I haven't really loved a stairway walk since we did Golden Gate Heights and the tiled steps. Nevertheless, I persevere. These pictures are from two days ago, when I did Chapter 18, Upper Market.
Many of the streets here are named after planets.
It's late August, isn't it? If it's not, it almost is. Time to think about the end of summer. The Japanese anenomes can help with that.
And the blackberries.
All that's missing are Naked Ladies. I didn't see a single one.
Those are the Vulcan Steps. It's a street without a road lined with quiet cottages.
That's Grewia caffra to the left of the door and over the garage:
I have no idea what happened to this house.
And I think this is an odd solution to an odd problem.
But it does reference the local geography.

The royal blue house was where my parents lived (rented) when I was born. Alas, the house became too small so, when I was one year old, we moved into the suburbs. I visited the Vulcan Steps not too long ago and loved the area. It's still hard to believe I was born in SF but not surprised I lived there a short time. It's SO expensive to live there. Thanks for sharing.
The black and white stubby car next to the same color tall house? Ha ha, that's a great shot! So is the one with the rocks that look like they might fall on the car at any moment. You've got some pretty droll pictures there.
Loved the pink anemones, glad to report those "summer killers" aren't in bloom yet here.
The anemones bloom in NC.
So what is above the rock alcove, more house? There really must be a higher percentage of gardeners in SF than the national average.
The green house and the VW look like an impossible situation. I could not imagine parking there.
