Golden Gate Heights

In case you are just joining us, I am doing another stairway walk. We visited the Tiled Steps during in Part I. This would be Part II, The Neighborhood.

This appears to be some kind of eucalypt that's been topped and trained as a hedge. I'm looking for a botanical name. The colors are lovely.

A Eucalypt?

Farther along, two ubiquitous plants frequently seen together in San Francisco: Lavatera assurgentiflora and Prunus cerasifera 'Atropurpurea'.

This is Golden Gate Heights Park, and I have no idea why it's called that.

And quite engulfed by fog.

I like all the pictures where the fog obscures parts of the horizon. I think all your blog posts with pictures from around San Francisco should be accompanied by warning labels that would remind me of San Francisco rent prices, because without the reminder, your pictures make me think I must be crazy not to be living there.

The neighborhoods down by the beach are all so nice and orderly with staright as an arrow streets and perfect spacing between houses. I bet they all have perfect plumbing too.

That big stip of green in two of the shots is Golden Gate Park that runs through most of San Francisco, yes?
