Lucky you! Alas, we were short on rain this winter, and our wildflower season is expected to be not as good as last year. Easy come, easy go.

yes to your luckiness. We are already nearly four inches below for this year and it is only March. We will be expecting exceptional photos of those CA wildflowers. Hope it happens for you!

I don't know if I'm going to make it to the desert this year.

So much going on the scenes that you don't get to read about!

:)

Maybe my friend Emma will go and take some pictures for us to enjoy...

Hope you get to enjoy some of the display in what few leisure hours you'll have with the exciting new job! Amazing how long wildflower seeds can wait for just the right conditions to grow...I sprinkled valerian seeds 5 years ago, and one finally came up the past 2 seasons.

Yes! I've heard about seed banked in the soil decades ago growing plants after a major environmental disturbance. I'm thinking about collecting a few soil samples from Bernal Hill at the end of the summer and seeing what comes up in controlled trials. I can put some of the soil in the freezer for awhile, put some in the BBQ and start a wood fire over it... Who knows what I'd find...
