Dahlia imperialis exploded into bloom last week. I don't recall it ever happening this early in my garden before, but maybe I'm wrong. I haven't noticed them blooming in the usual spots around town yet either.
Deep blue sky but you can tell it's fall by the shadows in the leaves.

Great pictures. That last shot with the bee is very cool. Bet she doesn't mind it's early, either.
These grow wild in the mountains around here at about 5,000 feet (in Panama) and seem to be blooming right now here also. A lot of other San Francisco garden standards also grow wild around here like Mexican sunflowers, begonias and some types of fuschia.
The towering dahlia
LOVE these photos!
oops! I meant Bolivian Sunflower Tithonia diversifolia. You see a lot of those here.
I'm so envious! Not a single stalk has even come up from my clump this year. I think I may have overwatered the area where it's at. The flowers are beautiful.
Jonah, yes, I love the cloud forest. I'd love to grow more of it in my tiny garden, but there isn't enough room.
Incredible beauty.
