Signs of spring

I wasn't looking for any, but I found them anyway.

Swollen leaf buds on the buckeye:

Some early daffs:

New rose leaves:

Arctotis flower buds:

Mazanita...

and Ceanothus are winter-flowering, generally speaking.

Some poppies self-sowed and I planted a few last fall that I grew from seed myself. Getting big!

Spring can never come soon enough. I think we can all agree about that. I'm concerned about a few plants that have been in shade for too long over the winter.

I'm especially concerned about 'Black Adder'. Phormium likes sun. Hang in there, little guy!

Speaking of little guys, do you remember me complaining about the dead animal stinking up the place last fall? The stink went way, but the rest of him did not. That was fine for winter, but now it's time for him to go.

You have a lot blooming there.
It is looking like Spring there for sure!!!
Our Manzanita is late this year I think. I haven't seen any sign of blooms yet! The daffodils are almost ready to bloom though!
What was that dead animal and how did it get in your yard?

Love the Ceanothus blooms - any blue flower I just love. I am with Cindee though, what is that dead animal? At least they helped to fertilize the soil ;^)

It's a possum! And if you've ever seen one, you'd know they are even creepier looking alive than dead.

I think you should leave the possum carcus... it's got that kind of punk-rock je ne sais quoi!

(And holy crap, the smell that guy must have made... eeeeeew.)

Yes possums are the most ugly MoFo's you can imagine. Where was it that you just left it there to rot. Was it stuck in a hard to reach place?

Spring here is still a distant promise. The wintry mix is upon us once more.

I was in SF a month ago and it was feeling pretty Springish to me. I guess down there they were winter bloomers.
It definitely looks like Spring in your garden now.
