Angels Camp

We drove a long way after work on Friday--130 miles east of San Francisco and 1400 feet up the western slope of the Sierra Nevada. The outstanding Cooper House Inn put us up for the night in the small town of Angels Camp.

Here we are regrouping from the long drive drinking Milliaire wine and eating hors-d'oeuvres prepared from all locally made food. Later we had a fine dinner at Cruzco's.

I went for a short walk in the morning before we moved on to the next place.

If zombies had attacked us during the night, I guess they would have come from this tiny old cemetery.

Angels Camp is famous in California for hosting Calaveras County's annual frog jump at the county fair.

Other than that, I don't know much about Angels Camp. But if you're ever up this way, be sure to stay at the Cooper House Inn. It will be among the best B&B's you'll ever stay at.

Interesting plaque in the last pic. Joaquin Murietta was the guy that inspired the Zorro stories.
