Russian Hill, Part I

I will conclude the tale of my gardening education soon, but first I have some pictures of Russian Hill to post. I was only able to visit a part of this neighborhood today. I go back and get more of it another time.
The neighborhood's name goes back to the Gold Rush era, when settlers discovered a small Russian cemetery at the top of the hill. Although the bodies were never identified, the bodies probably belonged to Russian fur traders and sailors from nearby Fort Ross, an old Russian outpost north of San Francisco. The cemetery was removed, but the name remains to this day. Ref.

I didn't press #01 for the manager. Are you disappointed? It would have been fun to blog the apartment for rent.

Wonderful, Mr. b. I really ooh-ed at the shots of Treasure island and the Palace of Fine Arts. Holy cow. What a gorgeous city you have there. Is that rent for real... I see it includes heat, even? Whoa. The sight of the *original* Swensen's Ice Cream shop makes me crave Sticky Chewy Chocolate flavor, on a waffle cone of course! I went to middle school in San Anselmo near the Swensen's at Red Hill.

It's likely you are going to have every non-Bay Area resident positively yearning to live here... & green with envy after taking in these photos! Gee, I guess all that beauty is what brought me here! And being able to garden year-round, of course!

Hi Chuck, such an interesting part of town. The original Swenson's too, a fave of mine. Looks like you were in motorhead frame of mind. Love the old sports cars, they fit in with the architecture. My first brand new car was a 1973 BMW 2002, cost $4k.

From deep in the depths of creating 10 stuffed chimps I stumble to the computer to seek momentary relief.
Your pictures of blossoms and the most incredible city are a balm.
Thank you, thank you.

OMG!
I must live there RIGHT NOW!
There is nothing more beautiful that the Bay Area - I want to move, but I've spent too much money on my garden.
And then there's that pesky husband that teaches here in LA. Drag. I'll just have to keep dreaming via your wonder-blog!
