We went up to Mendocino for a night with Guy's sister and brother-in-law, and stayed at the same place we stayed at last time, the Mendocino Hotel.

We had a few glasses of wine, then walked around town looking at menus.

We ended up having dinner at our hotel, as I hoped we would.

We also visited the farmer's market. These nectarines were totally tasty.

I stayed in the Mendocino Hotel too, last year! You got much better pictures of Mendocino than I did, though. Mine are here: http://queerbychoice.livejournal.com/592900.html

Well, if a picture is worth a thousand words, your have written volumes about the beautiful Mendocino!

This place is so pretty and the houses so darn cute it hardly looks real, Chuck. Even the geese are picturesque.

Beautiful photos - hope such beautiful images sustain you during the coming week!

Fabulous post Chuck! I love the way you grouped some of the photos by color. Those echium spires look other worldly. That town really is almost too cute.

Are echium always that... tall?! Here I was mentally picturing them at about 5-6 feet... not as high as the second story on a house, sheesh! That makes them much more Suessian. :)

More gorgeous pictures of an obviously fun trip! The closeup picture of the goose almost looks like a statue...he was sure eyeing you up!

Now my stomach is growling, thinking of the pumpkin ravioli at Maccallum House. Mendo is a gardener's paradise. I love the super-tall and very Seussian (!!) Tower-of-Jewels echium. That, the wildflowers all around, and the big ol' "fried-egg" Matillija (sp?) poppies are all classic Spendocino for me. Did you visit the Mendocino Art Center? Great photo ops there. Maybe next time! Thanks for another memory jolting photo essay. Your photos are some of the very best that I see online, Mr. b, and I look at a lot of garden blogs. Bravo!!! Bonnie
