I got some better pictures of the Phacelia tanacetifolia flower after I got home this afternoon. The flower so entranced this Syrphidae I could put my camera right up next to him and take several pictures.
I kinda like the other picture, from Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, where its glowing silvery blue, the best. But these are sweet--I can't believe how beautiful and Suessian this flower is.
By the way, I just got done googling phacelia tanacetifolia, including checking out its listing on Dave's Garden. Your photos kick their photos' asses! (Or would, if photos had asses. You know what I mean.)

OOOH, those blue stamens. I would hover around them too, if I had wings.

LOL Kim...Chuck's pics kick ass all over the place! I'm drooling over this plant, and I see that my bees would, too.
