Take a tip from a local: This is the Inner Harbor, off Jefferson between Jones and Taylor. Come here to catch a 60-90 minute ride on a small fishing boat that goes around Alcatraz Island and just outside the Golden Gate Bridge for a mere $15. Much more fun than the ferry rides that do the same thing for a lot more money down by the piers. The ride outside the GG Bridge is just about the most fun you can have in San Francisco for $15. Expect to get a little wet tho'. You're also putting money in the hands of real fishermen who have had some bad years lately.

ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a great day, spectacularly sunny. Some of the larger puppets were a little scary, but I loved the coin operated miniatures, especially the opium den and the graveyard drunk.
ReplyDeleteGood morning- I love the tour of your city! I went to college at SSU in Rohnert Park and having been from a rediculously small town up north, I loved to visit SF. Nothing else like it in the nation! Thanks for bringing back good memories.

I visited it when it was located underneath the Cliff House, out at Land's End - now it's been moved to Fisherman's Wharf since the reno of the Cliff House, correct? Another wonderful blast from my past, Mr. b., Bravo!!!

Hi Chuck, SF should hire you as a travel guide! The photos are the best ever! I wish I could figure out how to get a decent long shot with my camera. Or maybe I need a different camera. :-) The echiums are magnificent. That crab ready to go in the containers looks so yummy. Thanks for the tip about the boat ride, we took the ferry and enjoyed it but your idea seems better. Wonderful art on the puppets.
